2026 Conference Scholarship

Sandra Spannan Educational Scholarship

Funded by the generous donors to the Sandra Spannan Educational Scholarship Fund

The Society of Gilders offers scholarships to help defray education costs and support the professional development of SOG members in good standing. Open to all members.

Scope of Scholarship

The scholarship consists of:
• Waiver of the conference registration fee
• Tuition for one gilding course of up to $800.

This scholarship does not cover expenses for travel, accommodations, or meals. Additional tools and materials students may be asked to bring are not included.

Criteria for Review

• Coherence of the applicant's goals in the gilding arts
• Chosen class and reasons for requesting it
• Qualifications of the applicant
• Two signed letters of support
• Completeness of application

Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously received SOG funding.

Application Process

Applications including letters of reference must be received by the Education Chair no later than April 15, 2026. Applications will be reviewed by a panel and a recommendation made to the SOG Board for final approval. Notification of awards will be made by May 1, 2026.

Awardee Responsibilities

The scholarship awardee will, within one year of receiving the scholarship, submit an article to The Gilders Tip journal discussing their experience at Conference and how they have benefited from it.
