Whether you are a beginning or professional gilder, an artist or designer, a manufacturer or supplier, or someone with a special interest in gold leaf, you are invited to join the Society of Gilders!
Membership is open to any individual, institution, or company, and begins as soon as your transaction is completed. As a member, you will gain full access to this website, as well as discounted prices on classes, products, and conference registration.
For sole practitioners, our most popular plan

For firms who want to extend benefits to two or more employees
Student membership is open to those of all ages enrolled in a qualified educational institution (Proof of enrollment required).

Membership Plan Details
Dues are for one year of Membership, and will automatically renew each year. You may change your level, update billing information, or cancel your membership at any time after joining.
All Memberships Include:
- Subscription to The Gilder’s Tip, the bi-annual journal of the Society of Gilders, a full-color publication covering all aspects of the gilding arts, including a “member news” section.
- Subscription to the periodic SOG electronic Newsletter, with class information, member news, and events and updates of gilding interest
- Discount coupons on purchases of gilding materials from participating Sponsors
Member discounts on SOG classes, workshops, and lectures. - Access to online lectures
- Discounted early registration for conference and conference classes.
$100 per year
Individual Membership
Membership Benefits include:
- Listing by name with contact information and photo, in the Society of Gilders online Directory
- Eligibility for election to the Society of Gilders Board of Trustees
- One vote in the Society of Gilders elections
Member-only opportunities include:
- Participation in SOG art exhibits at conferences, Museums, and other locations.
- Exhibiting in the Museum of Gilding Arts gallery and shop in Pontiac, IL
- Eligibility to apply as instructor for classes at conferences, or in your own location under the auspices of the SOG
$175 per year
Business Sole / Dual Practitioner Membership
For a business of one or two people, add to Membership benefits:
- Additional subscriptions to The Gilder’s Tip and The SOG electronic Newsletter
- 10% discount on advertisements in the Gilder’s Tip
- Vote in Society of Gilders’ elections for 2 members of your business
- Discounted conference registration and classes for two people.
$250 per year
Business Enterprise Membership
For companies with two or more people on their team, add to Membership benefits:
- Additional subscriptions to The Gilder’s Tip and The SOG electronic Newsletter
- 10% discount on advertisements in the Gilder’s Tip
- Discounted conference registration and classes for up to four people.
- Vote in Society of Gilders’ elections for 2 members of your business
$50 per year
Student Membership
Students enrolled in accredited schools receive discounted dues and many benefits including:
- Subscription to The Gilder’s Tip
- Subscription to the periodic SOG electronic Newsletter
- Discount coupons on purchases of gilding materials from participating Sponsors
- Member discounts on SOG classes, workshops, and lectures
- Access to online lectures
- Discounted registration for conferences and classes
- Student members may not be qualified to teach classes nor vote in SOG elections.
Proof of enrollment is required.
