This article discusses the method that was used to restore the frame that had already two distinct restorations. The frame was both water and oil gilded originally and the gilder used both the Kolner system for water gilding as well as Instacoll size on the eagle after consulting with John Sansbury. He also used a technique that he learned about via Malcombe Green from the Victoria and Albert Museum in order to water gild the balls in the cove of the frame.
